She worked as a sociocultural animator at the Funda\u00e7\u00e3o para o Desenvolvimento do Vale de Campanh\u00e3, Porto (1998-2001). She was an Adjunct Professor at the Paula Frassinetti School of Education (2001-2019). She is a Master in Childhood Sociology (Institute of Child Studies, University of Minho)<br \/>\nand a PhD in Child Studies, specializing in the Sociology of Childhood, within the scope of citizenship and child participation. She participates in different professional networks in the field of childhood sociology and has been coordinator of the Sociology of Childhood Thematic Section of the Portuguese Sociology Association since December 2018.<\/p>\n<p>She is currently a researcher at ProChild CoLAB, in Guimar\u00e3es. He took his degree in Multimedia at ESMAD in Porto, where he<br \/>\ngraduated in 2017 and made, as a final course project, his first short film, \u201cThe Voyager\u201d, which features a live piano performance whenever possible, simultaneously with the screening of the film, by the director himself.<\/p>\n<p>Recipient of a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in 2018 he entered the Masters in Animation at the Royal College of Art, in London, where he directed \u201cNestor\u201d as the first-year film of the course. Together, these two films have already received more than 20 National and International awards at film festivals, as well as more than 100 official selections at festivals around the world, some of which qualify for Oscars and BAFTAs. Also worked at &#8220;Who&#8217;s this Hat&#8221; by Joana Toste, Gomtch Gomtch; and \u201cM\u201d by Joana Bartolomeu, Bando \u00e0 Parte. In 2012 completes the MA Degree in Animation at Arts University College of Bournemouth, where she directs her first animation short &#8220;Three Weeks in December&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Impact Award by University of Porto<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Awarded by the University of Porto Jury (1.000\u20ac)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dans La Nature<\/strong><br \/>\nMarcel Barelli, Switzerland, anim., 2021, 5\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>For the courage with which he illustrates a relevant, and often unfeasible, debate on sexuality, in a creative, original and taboos-free way. He currently holds a PhD scholarship, awarded by the FCT, supporting his dissertational project on the representations of violence in the novels of the Portuguese writer Maria Velho da Costa and the Irish writer Edna O&#8217;Brien, which is supervised by Prof. Dr. Rui Carvalho Homem and co-supervised by Prof. Dr. Ana Lu\u00edsa Amaral.<\/p>\n<p>He has also interest in gender studies, Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, Irish studies, and Comparative Literature in general. She has published book chapters, articles and reviews in the areas of Utopian Studies, Anglo-American Studies and Food Studies.<\/p>\n<p>From 2016 to 2019, Joana Caetano was the research assistant of the ALIMENTOPIA \/ Utopian Foodways Project, a project on Utopia, Food and the Future, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the European Programme Compete 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Joana Caetano was granted a PhD scholarship by FCT to pursue her research on utopian foodways and gender in Ursula K. Le Guin\u2019s Hainish Universe. For this reason she has always lived torn between her two great passions: science and art. Despite her academic career having been in the field of science (graduated in Geology from FCUP), her growing interest in the visual arts has led her over the years to collaborate with several film festivals in the city. She started collaborating with the University of Porto in 2013, joining the Culture Unit team to develop educational and cultural service activities.
