COSMIC PUDDING AND OTHER JOURNEYS
\n<\/strong><\/em>\u201cCosmic Pudding\u201d offers a fabulous journey through time and interstellar space, immersing us in a joyful bath of celestial objects, light and knowledge. The images are created exclusively from real food, animated and staged to resemble extraordinary cosmic phenomena. Inspired by years of research in astrophysics and biology, Genevi\u00e8ve Anhoury’s work uniquely combines art and science, awakening childhood curiosity and joy by looking at everyday life with new eyes. This session at the Planetarium also includes a short animated film and a live space journey through the sky!<\/p>\n

SHORT FILMS FROM THE CZECH REPUBLIC
\n<\/strong><\/em>The Czech Republic is one of the European countries with the longest tradition of making films for children. Zlin is a city in the Czech Republic where many films have been made and today hosts the oldest festival for children and young people in the world. We are therefore joining forces with the Zlin Film Festival to organise a special screening, bringing together the most exciting and creative films from this country in recent years.
\nAn opportunity to see films made between 2018 and 2025, a real feast for the eyes and the heart.
\nIn this session, we can see how “Pat, Mat e o Ar Condicionado”<\/a>,<\/strong> two inventor friends, discover how to cool down their living room; meet<\/span> “O Ouri\u00e7o”<\/a><\/strong> and learn about his ability to swim; watch the film “Caminhos do Lobo”<\/strong>, which tells the story of a boy who overcomes his fears and experiences a wonderful adventure; “Voo Raso”<\/a>,<\/strong> in which the cloud that wants to take care of the flower seems unable to do so because the noisy aeroplane gets in the way; “Nublado”<\/a>,<\/strong> where Mr Gnome wants to sunbathe, but it won’t be an easy task; “Sons da Realeza”<\/strong><\/a>, in which a boy recounts the help of his animal friends in creating the most beautiful melodies in the forest; and, finally, “A Folha”<\/strong><\/a>, which transports older viewers back to their childhood memories.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>\u201cEncontrei uma Caixa\u201d<\/strong><\/a> is a film about the discovery of a box that can be used in many ways, opening up space for imagination and creativity.
\nIn \u201cQuero Muito Ver-te\u201d<\/a><\/strong>, a moving documentary, we hear from the children of prisoners and understand how they end up in situations they never chose. \u201cJ\u00e1 dei o Berro\u201d<\/strong><\/a> is a fun animation about a grandfather who dies and tries to leave his house, but every time he tries to leave, his family brings him back. Finally, \u201cA Emancipa\u00e7\u00e3o de Mimi\u201d <\/strong><\/a>tells the story of Miguel, a 9-year-old boy obsessed with Mariah Carey, who discovers at school that he will not get the profits from the sale of calendars and decides to take action \u2014 until, miraculously, his favourite singer arrives in town.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong><\/em>This session begins with a childhood memory in \u201cViagem no Tempo\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, which takes us on a family holiday. This is followed by \u201cA Nossa Terra \u00e9 a Nossa Alma\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, a reflection on identity, traditions and how we represent our material culture. In \u201cO Jardim M\u00e1gico\u201d<\/a>,<\/strong> we discover a story about generosity and the transformative power of true treasures. With \u201cN\u00e3o. N\u00e3o. N\u00e3o!\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we enter a tale narrated from a child’s perspective\u2014a film for parents and little humans. \u201cJuntar\u201d<\/strong><\/a> celebrates the joy of community and joint creation, interpreted here by ducks. In \u201cO \u00daltimo Jardim\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we realise how different voices can come together to save the garden that everyone loves. Finally, \u201c\u00c0 Conquista da Panqueca!\u201d <\/strong><\/a><\/span>shows us that even mischievous children have the right to take a bite out of a juicy pancake.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>We begin a session consisting of four films. In \u201cAnan\u00e1simos\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we witness a brilliant and colourful reflection on the infinity of nature from the perspective of a pineapple; in \u201cC\u00e3o Sozinho\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we follow a true story involving a dog, a grandfather and a granddaughter; in \u201cAl\u00e9m do Vis\u00edvel\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, a young woman faces her mother’s mental health problems while searching for her own feminine identity; and finally, in \u201cAutocarro\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we meet Agata, who leaves her native country and writes to her father during the trip, until, after losing her pencil, she strikes up unexpected conversations with the other passengers.<\/span><\/p>\n

SHORT FILMS ON WOMEN
\n<\/strong><\/em>In close collaboration with the Porto Femme International Film Festival,<\/strong> we have created a programme of three short films that seek to bring to the fore films that address issues related to women and challenge the under-representation of women in cinema. From physical transformation during puberty to social conventions about body hair, these films open up space for reflection and dialogue between the audience and guests.
\nIn \u201cGirino\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, on a trip to the forest, ten-year-old Marlene faces the first changes of puberty and identifies with a tadpole, which is the target of her classmates’ ridicule. In \u201cO Ver\u00e3o de Eloise\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, a girl discovers the beauty of her curly hair and records her adventure in an illustrated book. Finally, \u201cPernas Peludas\u201d<\/strong><\/a> takes a 13-year-old girl on a journey of self-discovery, questioning conventions about hair removal.<\/span><\/p>\n

OLIVIA AND THE INVISIBLE EARTHQUAKE<\/strong><\/em>
\nFilm spoken in Spanish, with descriptive subtitles in Portuguese and Portuguese Sign Language [LGP] in the copy.
\n<\/strong>Olivia, her younger brother Tim and their mother Ingrid are evicted from their home and have to start from scratch in another neighbourhood. While Ingrid juggles to resolve the situation, Olivia invents a protective fantasy for her brother and herself: everything they are experiencing is not real, they are shooting a film. But this invention will have unexpected consequences. Fortunately, a new and colourful family will form around them, with whom they will have incredible adventures. Between laughter, tears, magic and friendship, they will discover that they are the incredible everyday heroes of their own lives.<\/p>\n

This is followed by <\/span> \u201cUma Criatura Diferente\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, which invites us to reflect on fear, shyness and care. In \u201cNarizinho a Pingar\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we have fun seeing how snot can be transformed into endless possibilities for play. In \u201cEncontrei!\u201d<\/a>,<\/strong> we follow Anna, who finds an unlikely friend while walking through the snow. Then, in \u201cNuma Noite Estrelada\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, a fearless little mouse helps shooting stars return to the sky. In \u201cQuinta de Lena: Sonho de Voar\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, a hen dreams of trading life in the henhouse for the freedom of swallows. Next, \u201cPrimeiro Voo\u201d<\/strong><\/a> shows us birds spinning around, others hovering in the air, and some who just want everything to go well. The session ends with <\/span> \u201cPeixe Nuvem\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, where a very small fish swims through an underwater city. Is he too small to see the world as the bigger fish see it?<\/span><\/p>\n

MY FIRST FILM – Grease
\n<\/strong><\/em>Good girl Sandy Olsson and greaser Danny Zuko fell in love during the summer. When they unexpectedly discover that they now attend the same secondary school, will they be able to rekindle their romance? This classic musical stars the memorable John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
\nWe invited a personality from the city of Porto to choose a film that marked their childhood or youth. This time, our guest is Jorge Prendas, a musician and composer from Porto who has built a career marked by creativity and artistic generosity. With a degree in composition, he has had his works presented and awarded at various festivals, always maintaining a strong connection to experimentation and sound imagination. He dedicates much of his life to teaching and community work, especially through Casa da M\u00fasica, where he coordinates projects that bring people of all ages closer to music. He was also the founder of Vozes da R\u00e1dio, a group with which he recorded numerous albums and enchanted audiences both in Portugal and abroad. Composer, teacher, project creator and sometimes even actor, Jorge Prendas is a shining light in Portuguese music, always faithful to the idea that music exists to be shared. For this session, he chose a film that he remembers as a defining moment in his adolescence: Randal Kleiser’s Grease. It was the first film he saw at the cinema on his own, accompanied by his schoolmates. He vividly remembers the group gathered at the door of the S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o Theatre, at what was also one of those moments that remain etched in your memory forever!<\/p>\n

SHORT FILMS FOR MOTHERS AND FATHERS
\n<\/strong><\/em>For the first time, the festival dedicates a space to parents, with four films that make us reflect on parenthood through the big screen. From humor to tenderness, from despair to unconditional love.
\nWe begin with the humorous short film \u201cNo. No. No!\u201d, a story narrated from a child’s perspective that will leave parents thinking. This is followed by \u201cPequena Hist\u00f3ria\u201d (Little Story), an animation about a hard-working ant and its little red egg, in a dramatically realistic metaphor. Then, in \u201cUma M\u00e3e Vai \u00e0 Praia\u201d (A Mother Goes to the Beach), we meet Teresa, a single mother who spends the day at the beach with her son Benji and her sister Marga. The day becomes stressful due to Marga’s comparisons and criticism of Benji. Finally, \u201cYou Are My Light\u201d tells the story of a mother whose motherhood is marked by an exhausting routine, isolation, and fatigue, turning her into a shadow of her former self. But something happens that will help her understand and overcome her suffering.

\n<\/i><\/span>Closing Session and Children’s Choir
\n<\/strong>The Children’s Choir of the University of Porto, conducted by Pedro Guedes Marques, joins us on this special afternoon to treat us to moments of music, freshness and joy in pop-up format. With the contagious energy of their young voices, the choir will be present at this special session as well as at other surprise moments throughout Sunday afternoon, with performances that celebrate creativity, expression and the power of singing together.
\nAfter a brief ceremony to take stock and award the festival prizes, we move on to a very special session dedicated to celebrating the 10th edition of IndieJ\u00fanior. A thematic selection of films about cakes and parties sets the tone for this celebration, promising a truly unforgettable moment. The session begins with \u201cA Festa de Anos do Mickey\u201d<\/strong>, where a surprise party quickly turns into a musical session, with all the friends playing instruments while Goofy tries to bake a cake. Next, we see a portrait of a group of people at \u201cMesa\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, a birthday party, and the rituals that are created around these gatherings.
\nIn \u201cO Bolo\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, we follow the unequal division of a cake and the questions it raises \u2014 now what? Near the end, we shift our perspective to enter the point of view of \u201cPi\u00f1ata\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, before ending with \u201cBolo de Cora\u00e7\u00e3o Derretido\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, the delicious dessert of this session: a story served with sharing, joy, and friendship.<\/span><\/p>\n
