The professional jury’s choice (Abi Feij\u00f3, Marta Madureira, Robert-Jan Lacombe)<\/strong>
\nFor the Best Feature Film Award<\/strong>, the choice was The Red Turtle\/La tortue rouge<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0“for its outstanding visuals, animation and poetic ambiance. A speachless film that speaks loudly and will remain in our memory”. On the other hand, the jury explained\u00a0that they decided to give the\u00a0Best Short Film Award <\/strong>to\u00a0About a Mother\/Pro Mamu<\/em><\/strong>, \u201cFor its imaginative use of the unique animation possibilities, for the metaphoric double fonction images and for interesting story telling solutions resulting in a bright and touching tribute to motherhood.”<\/p>\n

The Young Jury’s choice (Diana Arroyo, Francisca Dores, Mariana Nunes):<\/strong>
\nThe\u00a0DoctorGummy Award for Best Film<\/strong>\u00a0was also given to\u00a0The Red Turtle\/La tortue rouge\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>“for its ability to reach all audiences through an universal and appealing language. With an animation of great quality, this film perfectly reproduces the experience of nature. Of equal quality, the sound effects call for the viewers’ senses, in a very strong sensory experience. All of these in a story about the importance of love and family ties.”
\nThe jury also decided to\u00a0give a\u00a0Special Mention<\/strong>\u00a0to the film\u00a0The Boy in the Ocean<\/em><\/strong>, because it’s “film which reflects quite well the whole program of the festival and shows us the changes puberty causes in one’s body, relation with the parents and other people.”<\/p>\n

The closing ceremony took place this Sunday, at Teatro Rivoli. Besides the awards being given out, two of the winning films were screened:\u00a0About a Mother\/Pro-Mamu<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Moroshka<\/em><\/strong> and there was a performance by\u00a0Orquestra Juvenil da Bonj\u00f3ia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The festival \u2013\u00a0which received, until now, 4.500 people\u00a0<\/strong>– ends tonight, with two classics\u00a0Stand by Me,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>by Rob Reiner, at 21:00, Teatro Rivoli and\u00a0The Night of the Hunter<\/em><\/strong>, by Charles Laughton, at 21:30, Cinema Trindade.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
