On 25 November 2025, APEI – Associação de Profissionais de Educação de Infância (Association of Early Childhood Education Professionals) will hold its 71st Sharing Group, dedicated to reflecting on the role of cinema in childhood and educational practices.
The session will be led by Cláudia Alves, with the special participation of Irina Raimundo from IndieJúnior, a film festival dedicated to children and young audiences, and Jéssica Pestana from Cineclub – Expansion and Education, part of the IndieLisboa Association.
Focusing on pedagogical strategies for creating spaces for learning and enjoyment through cinema, this activity is based on the recognition that childhood is marked by visuality, discovery and play. Cinema is presented as an essential tool for arousing curiosity, stimulating experimentation and capturing children’s attention, combining vision and listening without losing the playful side.
The meeting includes the screening of a short film selected by IndieJúnior, which will serve as a starting point for an open conversation among participants. The reflection focuses on the question: can a film generate new ways of thinking and doing?
In addition, the contents of the first training course dedicated to this theme, ‘Cinema in Childhood’, scheduled to start in January 2026, will be presented, as well as some news about the programme for the next edition of IndieJúnior Porto, which will take place between 26 January and 1 February 2025.
